Lausanne’s Festival de la Cité Defines Entertainment

  • The city invites the people of the UAE to join in on the festivities and merriment

One of UAE’s most popular holiday destinations, Lausanne in Switzerland has unveiled the latest on its signature community event, Festival de la Cité that will take place on its suburban streets from 4- 9 July, 2017.

The 46th edition of Festival de la Cité features the best of theatre, dance, music, concerts, performance arts, literary events, the circus, and a wide menu of visual spectacles.

Walter Loser, Lausanne Tourisme’s Project Manager for the GCC market said, “The Festival de la Cité has been designed around three fundamental pillars that also define the city of Lausanne. Artistic ambition ensures that we offer the unseen, the unique and the new. This first pillar emphasizes the originality and the exclusivity of the acts. Openness, the second pillar is an invitation to discover, share, and participate which ultimately leads to the expansion of the horizon for our guests. The last pillar is spirit, that is central to Lausanne’s personality, one that is friendly and festive binding the event and unifying all its people starting from the residents, to the tourists and the travellers.”

As part of the Festival de la Cité, guests can engage in a wide variety of diverse experiences that takes inspiration from contemporary styles of theatre, dance and performance arts. The event caters to all age groups with its range- jazz and modern sounds to urban literature and fine arts. The project expects to start a dialogue within a city, a discussion that equally extends to all participants. Witness the interaction between art, public spaces and society only at Festival de la Cité.

“The liveliness of contemporary, living art is at the very core of the city’s heritage. Break away from traditional social, spacial and aesthetic limits and experience the coming together of art and culture- all in an energetic and warm atmosphere,” concluded Loser.

The iconic locations of Castle Saint Marie, Pierre Viret, and Pont Bessières will serve as the location for the week-long event.
