Healthspan Action Coalition and Leading Italian Organizations Announce Global Collaboration

The Healthspan Action Coalition (HSAC) today announced a strategic international collaboration with a coalition of prominent Italian organizations, including Fondazione Bicocca, Italian Sources for Healthspan and Saturnia Healthy Longevity, Palazzo Fiuggi, Columbus Clinic Center, Tennis & Friends, Women Economic Forum Italy, BrainCircle Italy, AEON Foundation, and The Cure Alliance (Italy Healthspan Initiative), to advance scientific innovation, public understanding, policy engagement, and practical action aimed at extending healthy human life.

The announcement reflects an initiative developed with Camillo Ricordi, M.D., HSAC Chief Scientific Officer, to connect scientific, civic, philanthropic, and institutional leaders around a shared global healthspan agenda.

“The science is moving rapidly toward a new paradigm: intervening earlier to identify invisible risk factors years before they progress toward disease, preserving function and preventing chronic illness by fully integrating predictive and preventive strategies, to prevent the collapse of an exclusively reactive health system,” said Ricordi.

Through the new collaboration, HSAC and its Italian partners intend to create a sustained platform for cooperation across longevity and aging science, regenerative medicine, preventive health, education, convening, and public-policy dialogue. The alliance will seek to connect investigators, clinicians, entrepreneurs, patient advocates, universities, foundations, women’s leadership networks, and public institutions in both countries and internationally.

The collaboration will be formally announced during the opening program of the Translational Longevity Summit in Boston, where Giovanna Iannantuoni, President of Fondazione Bicocca and a leader in academic, cultural, and international engagement, will deliver opening remarks recognizing the importance of an expanded Italy-United States partnership for healthspan. Fondazione Bicocca recently launched the Longevity and Proactive Healthspan Extension initiative, an academic and institutional project developed in connection with the Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, centered on extending healthy life expectancy (healthspan), rather than lifespan alone, through proactive measures against age-related decline.

“Our overarching mission requires collaboration across disciplines, institutions, and national borders. This Italy-HSAC initiative is designed to bring scientific excellence together with public leadership, education, and implementation, so that advances in regenerative medicine, prevention, and longevity science can benefit people around the world,” said Iannantuoni. “We are pleased to join HSAC and its collaborative international mission by contributing our approach to healthy longevity: an evolution of Italy’s unique thermal heritage, integrated with healthspan strategies that can help prevent people from becoming patients,” said Massimo Caputi, President of Italian Sources for Healthspan and Saturnia Healthy Longevity. “Our model brings a millennia-old culture of thermal wellbeing together with contemporary scientific research and medical innovation, to explore and enhance the role of natural thermal resources, preventive medicine, and advanced health and wellness practices in extending healthspan.”

“Palazzo Fiuggi is pleased to join HSAC and looks forward to contributing to its mission,” said Magno Cristiani, Managing Director of Palazzo Fiuggi. “We combine a solid medical foundation, advanced biomechanics technology, the unique heritage of Fiuggi’s healing waters, first-class hospitality and Michelin-starred Italian cuisine to promote healthy longevity, a mission that is fully aligned with HSAC’s vision.”

“Joining HSAC reflects what we’ve built with Columbus Circle,” said Paolo Cremascoli, Board Member of Columbus Clinic Center in Milan. “Our model shows how a dedicated healthspan department can bring predictive diagnostics and personalized prevention into an evidence-based clinical setting, part of Italy’s leading hospital group, Humanitas.”

“For fifteen years, Tennis & Friends has brought prevention out of the hospital and into the places where people gather, using sport, community and free medical screenings to reach citizens who might never otherwise get checked,” said Giorgio Meneschincheri, MD, President of Tennis & Friends. “Joining HSAC gives us the opportunity to share this model internationally and to show that early detection, combined with an active lifestyle, is one of the most effective and accessible tools we have to extend healthspan.”

“This collaboration brings together organizations that recognize that healthspan is one of the defining human, scientific, and economic challenges of our time,” said Marilena Citelli Francese, President of Women Economic Forum Italy and BrainCircle Italy.

“AEON Foundation is glad to join forces with HSAC in this interdisciplinary and multisectoral collaboration, to translate scientific research into technology-driven healthspan strategies and policies capable of preventing disease and extending human life in health,” said Nicola Marino, Founder and Director of AEON Foundation. “To achieve this, we must actively involve researchers, industry, and institutional stakeholders. We believe in evidence-based policies and in spreading the healthy longevity message.”

“Italy has exceptional scientific, cultural, academic, and civic assets to contribute to the global effort to help people live longer, healthier, more independent lives. Our organizations view this partnership with the Healthspan Action Coalition as an initiative of global significance — one that can strengthen international dialogue, inspire public engagement, and help translate knowledge into meaningful action,” said Shelley Ross, President of The Cure Alliance, a foundation supporting cure-focused and healthspan initiatives in the United States and Italy.

“Healthspan is not simply a biomedical issue; it is a societal imperative with profound implications for families, health systems, workforce participation, equity, and economic resilience,” said Bernard Siegel, Executive Director of the Healthspan Action Coalition. “We are honored to welcome our Italian partners into the HSAC community. Their leadership creates a powerful bridge between Italy and the United States and expands the coalition’s ability to convene stakeholders, elevate evidence-based healthspan strategies, and advocate for a future in which longer lives are also healthier lives.”

A cross-border platform for healthspan The partners will explore joint activities that may include: •    International forums, conference programming, and expert exchanges on healthy aging, longevity science, regenerative medicine, and prevention.

•    Public education initiatives that communicate evidence-based approaches to healthspan in accessible language.

•    Connections among researchers, clinicians, academic institutions, foundations, policymakers, patient advocates, and responsible innovators.

•    Dialogue on policy, investment, and health-system strategies that support disease prevention, functional independence, and equitable access to emerging healthspan advances.

•    Opportunities to elevate women’s leadership, intergenerational engagement, and cross-sector participation in shaping the future of health and longevity.

The partners believe the collaboration can help reshape the healthspan landscape by moving the conversation beyond the prevention and treatment of individual diseases and toward coordinated action on the underlying drivers of chronic illness, frailty, and loss of function. By linking Italy’s scientific and cultural institutions with HSAC’s international coalition-building and advocacy work, the initiative aims to encourage a more integrated, globally connected approach to improving health across the lifespan.

The Italian organizations plan to share the announcement with Italian media and stakeholder networks, underscoring the international relevance of the collaboration and the opportunity for Italy to help lead a global movement for healthier longevity.
